The Academic Support Center coordinates services for students with disabilities. The coordinator of services for students with disabilities in the Academic Support Center, along with other university staff or faculty, will assist the student in exploring his/her needs and determining the necessary services and accommodations.
According to ADA, a person with a disability is one who:
- Has a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits a major life activity*;
- Has a record or history of such an impairment; or
- Is regarded as having such impairment.
*Major life activities include, but are not limited to, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning, working, caring for oneself and performing manual tasks. These impairments may exist in those with chronic health impairments, learning disabilities, emotional disturbances or physical disabilities.
