Throughout his leadership, Janzen worked to reestablish credibility and confidence in the college’s mission among the Mennonite Brethren constituency. He guided Fresno Pacific through a pivotal season, expanding opportunities while remaining firmly rooted in its Christian identity. His commitment to hospitality and his belief that the university should serve people from all walks of life helped lay a foundation that continues to shape the institution.

Serving for more than 35 years as a professor and president, Edmund was known for his deep commitment to students, his Christ-centered vision and his efforts to broaden the university’s mission while remaining rooted in its foundation. His legacy continues to impact Fresno Pacific and the wider faith community.
Edmund Janzen passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, at the age of 88.
