Church Relations

As a Christian university, FPU integrates faith and learning—transforming lives and developing students for service and leadership. Sponsored by the Mennonite Brethren church, we value our relationships with various denominations throughout the Central Valley.

Since part of our mission includes strengthening the church, we actively seek new ways to serve and better connect with churches. We offer resources, training programs and special events to churches, and also want to connect our students to ministry opportunities available to them through the church.

President Jones wrote a letter to valley churches expressing his heart in extending the influence of the Kingdom of God.

Guest Speaker

We desire to serve local churches, their pastors and congregations. This is why we offer the opportunity to fill in at the pulpit at your church and provide a time of reprieve for your pastoral staff. To schedule an FPU guest speaker or to learn about opportunities to provide a guest lecturer to fill the pulpit for your congregation, we’d love to help.

FPU promises to do its best to fill the request by connecting a quality speaker to meet the need. FPU works with university administration, faculty, and staff who are willing to preach to fulfill requests.

FPU does not set a specified fee for this service, trusting that churches will consider the time, effort, and transportation costs involved for the speakers and reimburse them accordingly. Our staff can provide a suggestion of appropriate payment amount, based on travel time, number of services, and other considerations, if requested.

On-site Counseling Services

On-Site Counseling provides social-emotional support services to local school districts, churches and NGOs. With On-Site, you’ll work with the On-Site Counseling Director to design a program that meets the unique needs of your campus or site. On-Site clinicians offer a combination of individual, family, group, and crisis counseling, as well as case management, assessment and referral, psychoeducation, and consultation, as appropriate to your clientele.

Patients receive services directly at your site thereby eliminating difficulties associated with accessing off-site counseling. Many patients feel more comfortable receiving counseling in the familiar setting of school or site and are therefore more likely to participate.

Center for Community Transformation

Our Center for Community Transformation (CCT) desires to equip leaders to contribute to the economic, physical and spiritual welfare of our valley communities.  We are passionate about utilizing the assets of our faith community to address our valley’s deepest economic, physical and spiritual challenges.  We address these challenges in a variety of ways:

Social Enterprise
Catalyzing faith-based job creation and economic development models that are working in contexts of concentrated poverty.

Faith & Finances
Equipping those in low-income communities to avoid unjust lending practices and providing a congregational approach to financial literacy training to help prepare vulnerable people for success.

Certificado
Providing Spanish-speaking pastors and leaders, representing more than a third of the congregations in Fresno, with higher level non-formal, training in leadership and community transformation.

City Shaping
Helping God’s people be equipped to redeem, serve and shape the systems of the city for the common good.
