As a Christian university, FPU integrates faith and learning—transforming lives and developing students for service and leadership. Sponsored by the Mennonite Brethren church, we value our relationships with various denominations throughout the Central Valley.

Since part of our mission includes strengthening the church, we actively seek new ways to serve and better connect with churches. We offer resources, training programs and special events to churches, and also want to connect our students to ministry opportunities available to them through the church.

President Jones wrote a letter to valley churches expressing his heart in extending the influence of the Kingdom of God. You can read this letter here

Music Ensembles

We have a variety of music ensembles available to provide special music on occasion in local churches. Below you’ll find a brief description of these ensembles:

Pacific Bronze & Sunbird Handbell Choir—Patricia Cota, conductor
Pacific Bronze is made up of 13 handbell musicians who perform sacred and secular music as well as original compositions. FPU's Sunbird Handbell Choir offers new ringers a chance to learn the fundamentals.

Crosswind — Melita Zubacz, conductor
This troupe of singers and instrumentalists performs two genres of contemporary Christian music, including European-influenced choral anthems and African-inspired praise and worship music.

Concert Choir — Dr. Bethany Alvey, conductor
As the university's premier vocal group, this select group of singers performs widely at schools, churches, on tour and at choral festivals. Music comes from all periods—Classical to the 21st Century, a cappella and accompanied, with the primary focus on sacred texts. Center for Cmmunity Transformation

Our Center for Community Transformation (CCT) desires to equip leaders to contribute to the economic, physical and spiritual welfare of our valley communities.  We are passionate about utilizing the assets of our faith community to address our valley’s deepest economic, physical and spiritual challenges.  We address these challenges in a variety of ways:

Social Enterprise
Catalyzing faith-based job creation and economic development models that are working in contexts of concentrated poverty.

Faith & Finances
Equipping those in low-income communities to avoid unjust lending practices and providing a congregational approach to financial literacy training to help prepare vulnerable people for success.

Certificado
Providing Spanish-speaking pastors and leaders, representing more than a third of the congregations in Fresno, with higher level non-formal, training in leadership and community transformation.

City Shaping
Helping God’s people be equipped to redeem, serve and shape the systems of the city for the common good.
