Joseph Jones, Ph.D., comes to FPU from Forman Christian College (FCC), a chartered university in Lahore, Pakistan, where he was vice rector (provost) starting in 2015. In addition to being chief academic officer, his responsibilities included academic administration, marketing communications and enrollment management. Forman offers programs from kindergarten to the Ph.D. and is the third-oldest university in the country’s history, with 6,347 students, 220 full-time faculty and over 21,700 registered alumni.

D. Gayle Copeland, Ph.D., is an experienced administrator with roots in the region, starting her career as a teacher at Immanuel High School in Reedley, Fresno Christian High School in Fresno and Sanger High School before becoming assistant principal and summer school principal at Fresno’s Central High School. She came to FPU from Simpson University, Redding, CA, where she was provost. Prior to that Copeland was professor and education department chair at Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA, and assistant professor at California State University, Fresno and Baylor University.

Valerie Rempel’s primary mission in teaching is to encourage students to deepen their love for the church and its complexities, and to gain both knowledge and appreciation for the Christian tradition. She wants students to think about what they believe and why they believe it and to see how those beliefs have been shaped by their theological tradition, their culture and their own experience. As an Anabaptist, she is also committed to the belief that theological reflection is a community task. She wants to encourage students to engage in theological conversation with each other as preparation for ministry in the church and world. Rempel’s Ph.D. is from Vanderbilt University, and she has M.A. degrees from both Vanderbilt and Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary. Her B.A. is from Tabor College.

Diana Bates Mock came to FPU in 2001 as director of communications and university relations. A marketing industry veteran, her titles over the years have included advertising copywriter, creative director, public relations director and independent marketing consultant. She has a B.A. from California State University, Fresno in mass communications, and an M.A. from FPU in leadership and organizational studies.

Gwen Burks, M.A., provides strategic leadership for and ensures effective implementation of initiatives on behalf of the President of Fresno Pacific University. She is responsible for the overall planning and management of the Office of the President and for the direction and oversight of its staff. Burks has over 20 years of experience in higher education and earned a B.A. in Liberal Studies from California State University, Fresno and an M.A. from Fresno State in Education-Administration and Supervision in Higher Education. Burks reports directly to the president and is a member of the President’s Cabinet.

Jon Endicott oversees traditional undergraduate and seminary recruiting in addition to degree completion and graduate admissions. Endicott started his present position in 2009. From 1996-2002, he was in the traditional undergraduate enrollment department as associate director, then director of college admissions. His B.A. is from Concordia University and his M.A. is from the University of California, Irvine. In between his time at Fresno Pacific University, Endicott worked at Fresno Christian Schools.

As board chair since 2015, Griffith provided direction as FPU identified new leaders, including President Joseph Jones, Ph.D. Jones, in turn, suggested Griffith consider the vice presidency after stepping down as president of his financial planning business, Cornerstone Advisory Group of Fresno, CA. Don has extensive business management experience, financial planning expertise and other advancement experience including being regional representative of the Evangelical Free Church of America Department of Financial Ministries.


Aaron Henderson

Aaron Henderson oversees 14 athletics programs and more than 300 student-athletes. He brings 13 years of experience as a coach, teacher and administrator. A student-athlete and campus leader as an undergraduate at Fresno Pacific University, Henderson went on to hold various roles at the university from 2006-2013, including lead assistant men’s basketball coach, events management director and assistant director of athletics. He was part of the administrative team that successfully transitioned the university from the NAIA to NCAA Division II. After a two-year stint as athletics director for Immanuel Schools in Reedley, Henderson returned to his alma mater in 2015. Henderson holds a B.A. and an M.A. in Kinesiology from FPU.

Robert Lippert has 24 years of experience in non-profit leadership, spending the past nine years as chief operating officer at the AIMS Educational Foundation in Fresno. Throughout his career he has worked extensively with budgeting and financial management as well as managing operations, information systems and personnel. In his role, Lippert oversees the university business office and budget process as well the offices of the controller and human resources.

Dale Scully, vice president of student life at Fresno Pacific University, sees education as the ability to use truth, knowledge and life experiences to serve others and glorify God. Scully comes to FPU from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, IA, where he was vice president for student affairs. Prior positions include associate dean/athletics director at Uganda Christian University, associate dean of students at Toccoa Falls College and director of residence life at The King’s College, New York. Uganda Christian, Toccoa Falls and Kings are all associated with the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities, of which FPU is a member. Scully earned a Master of Arts in Student Personnel Administration from the Teacher’s College of Columbia University. He also has a Bachelor of Arts in History from Western Washington University and an Associate of Arts in General Studies from Yakima Valley Community College.

Angulus Wilson, was called by the Lord into the ministry in 1991 and today oversees spiritual formation for students at all four campuses of Fresno Pacific University, as well as the areas of student ministries and chapel/College Hour programs. He has attended several colleges and universities, including Fresno Pacific University, Wheaton College, Birmingham Theological Seminary and Ecclesia University of Divinity. His M.A. in Theology is from Wheaton College.
