Interim Provost

Dr. Sherri Hughes is an accomplished higher education administrator and solutions-oriented leader. Her areas of expertise include strategic planning, curriculum design, individual and program assessment, and team building. Dr. Hughes received her Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Georgia Institute of Technology and her B.A. in psychology from Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. Dr. Hughes’ most recent roles include Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Enrollment Management at Marymount University (2008-2016) where she led four schools of 150 full-time/350 part-time faculty, 125 staff, serving 3,400 graduate and undergraduate students on three campuses as chief academic officer. She also oversaw admissions, retention, and financial aid as the chief enrollment officer. From 2016-2022 Dr. Hughes served in a variety of roles at the American Council on Education (ACE). Her work included supporting and engaging higher education leaders from ACE’s 1,700 member institutions through leadership development programming for ACE Fellows and ACE Women’s Network. Dr. Hughes has been actively involved in professional and community service.
