Pathway options

A minimum of 36 semester units of coursework is required for a Master of Arts in Special Education and an Education Specialist credential. All candidates must receive advisement and an education plan must be developed prior to admissions to the program.

The program includes 14 core units and 22 elective units that can be chosen from select FPU Preliminary Education Specialist Credential courses as well as an extensive list of electives. Up to 9 units may be transferred from another university. Courses include traditional, online, and blended format.

Disability Service Providers
The Master of Arts in Special Education emphasis for disability service providers prepares individuals serving those with exceptionalities outside of the school setting or otherwise serving in capacities that do not require an Education Specialist credential. The program is 32 units that includes the core 14 units and 18 elective units. 
All coursework is available in an online format for distance learners

Master of Arts in Special Education & BCBA

Those wishing to earn both a Masters of Arts in Special Education with Board Certified Behavioral Analyst, a total of 60 units must be completed. Candidates are required to complete the 14 core units, complete 18 elective units, and a total of 28 BCBA units.
