Tejean Smith: My FPU Moment

Orange Chair Q&A with Tejean Smith

July 15, 2025

Hi, my name is Tejean Smith, I’m 21 years old and I’m a business major.

Q: What first attracted you to FPU?

A: I think it was the baseball facilities. That was something that really caught my eye. Seeing that there's a brand-new stadium being built, a brand-new locker room, the new padding around the field, the turf cages, being able to put in work whenever we want and then also that it's a Christian university. It was really an honor to be able to learn about God through the school.

Q: Can you tell us about your recent trip to Hawaii?

A: Recently, we went to Hawaii Hilo as a baseball team. Luckily, we came out with four wins, but I think it was more of a good experience for everyone. Getting to see people that had not been able to even fly on a plane and see them be able to visit Hawaii was definitely cool. All of us being able to bond, go on hikes, go to the beach and do a lot of things that not everyone in this world gets to do. I know there's a lot of people that have never even been to Hawaii, so it was really a blessing to get to do that with everybody.

Q: What is the most valuable aspect of your experience here?

A: Something that's the most valuable aspect to me here at FPU is that we get to learn through Christ. I think that's something that's really forgotten in the world, definitely at big four-year universities. They don't necessarily get to teach Christ because it's not something that's talked about as often. I think it's a blessing. We have kids on the team that lead Bible study groups on Wednesdays, and that's something that we really take advantage of. So yeah, getting to learn Christ through everything is probably my most valuable aspect here.

Q: What is a fun fact about yourself?

A: A fun fact about me, a lot of people may say it's weird, but I like dipping my steak in ranch.
