Giving to FPU is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students and the next generation of leaders . . . to impact our community and our world. Your gift to any of the following funds, scholarships or projects helps FPU continue to make a difference and is important to us.
The FPU Annual Fund provides essential monetary support for the resources that maintain and improve the academic, ethical and spiritual education offered to each and every student. Gifts to this fund support the areas of greatest need: financial aid and scholarships, teaching and research equipment, faculty development, student life programs and enhancements to the campus.
The Sunbird Association exists to not only raise funds for FPU student-athletes, but to stimulate their athletic, social and spiritual development while promoting excellence through athletic competition.
The Seminary Scholarship Fund makes seminary education affordable and accessible to students called into ministry. Contributions to the fund reduce tuition for all seminary students, provide for a denominational discount, and supply general financial aid in the form of scholarships to those who qualify. The Biblical Seminary's endowments enhance our mission by providing long-term stability and creating future opportunities for expansion and growth. Endowments fund scholarships and faculty chairs.
Scholarships are vital to FPU and to the students we serve. With a minimum donation of $10,000, donors may design and sponsor scholarships for students by school, major or other criteria. An endowed fund will be established continuing your scholarship and providing limitless opportunities to its recipients.
Edmund Janzen Lectureship in Biblical Studies
Established in 2004 in honor of the retirement of former FPU president and long-time faculty member Edmund Janzen, the Edmund Janzen Lectureship in Biblical Studies promotes careful scholarship in biblical interpretation as well as the witness of the Christian church. Lectures are intended for university faculty and students, pastors, and lay leaders and occur each spring alternating between the old and new testaments.
Harold H. Haak Award for Academic Achievement
Named in honor of former FPU President Harold H. Haak, this award is given at commencement to a graduating senior who displays the highest level of academic achievement or merit, character and leadership. The Harold H. Haak Award for Academic Achievement includes a financial gift and a very special medallion. Past recipients include Brian DiPalma and Pulkit Sawroop.
Nickel Excellence in Teaching Award
This award began in 2004 when the family of Ted Nickel, emeritus faculty in psychology, brought forth the desire to recognize other professors for their excellence in teaching. Every year, a faculty member is selected from among his/her peers to receive this award, and a monetary gift accompanies the recognition. Currently an anonymous donor is matching all gifts up to $30,000 to the Nickel Excellence in Teaching Award. Past recipients are: Richard Rawls, Stacy Hammons, Peng Wen and Dave Youngs.
We are grateful that many families and friends of our students are willing to assist them in their pursuit of higher education at FPU. Due to IRS regulations, however, these specific gifts are not considered tax deductible. If you are interested in making a gift to a particular student, please contact the Cashier's Office at 559-453-5586.
Gifts made to the Fresno Pacific Annual Fund and the Biblical Seminary Annual Fund can easily be multiplied by taking advantage of a corporate matching gift program. These programs allow an employee to direct his/her organization's philanthropy to benefit Fresno Pacific. Contact your company's human resources or employee benefits office to discover if they will match your gift, even if you or your spouse are retired.
Forms can be mailed to the Advancement Office at 1717 S. Chestnut Avenue, Box 2007, Fresno, CA 93702. Call 559-453-2080, or email email@example.com for more information.
